Here’s to 2008! Hope everyone had a wonderful time celebrating and bringing in the new year! We celebrated at my sister’s house this year. Here is one video clip from the evening…using my new Flip Video Camcorder I got for Christmas. Olivia and I were playing the Wii game, Dancing with the Stars.

I used to really big into setting a ton of New Year Resolutions, and of course, to no avail…they never really lasted. Although I do have one specific goal and that is to run a 10k this year.

Last year, I used Ali Edwards idea of just having one word or phrase for the year. A word that helps ‘define’ what you will do or focus on in that year. In 2007, my word was PEACE. I think it served me well throughout the year, particularly when I found this quote:

Peace: It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

So this year, my word is BELIEVE.

The definition of believe is: to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so: Only if one believes in something can one act purposefully.

I found a few quotes as well, that defines what the word Believe means to me and how I will think about it throughout the year…

The point of living and of being an optimist, is to believe the best is yet to come.

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.
N0rman Vincent Peale (1898 – 1993)

Every time you state what you want or believe, you’re the first to hear it. It’s a message to both you and others about what you think is possible. Don’t put a ceiling on yourself.
Oprah Winfrey (1954 – ), O Magazine, December 2003

All things are possible to him that believeth.
