Edited: HE DID IT. The race tonight (Friday) was the butterfly. He was up against the world record holder and it didn’t look like he was going to do it. He took one last stroke and beat Cavet by 1 100th of a second, unheard of. Amazing. Dan and I were jumping up and down screaming our heads off. Poor Olivia didn’t know what to think of it. Very exciting. Phelps is now tied with Spitz for the most goals medals won (7) in one Olympic. He also now holds the most gold medals won in Olympic career. Olivia said she wants to swim as fast as Phelps so she can have ‘bumps’ on her arms too (bumps – her word for muscles, lol).
The Men’s Swimming Olympic competition is a ‘big’ thing in our household since Dan was a competitive swimmer in his ‘early’ years. So we have been watching Michael Phelps break record after record this week. So amazing and talented. He now is ranked the most medal winner in the history of Olympics. He’s also on his way to break Spitz record for most gold medals in a single Olympics. Michael Phelps has won 6 golds so far, tonight he’ll compete for his 6th one. So exciting….go USA!!
