Once Dan felt well enough we checked out and started our drive to Amboise in the Loire Valley. We stayed in probably the prettiest chateau ever, Chateau-Nazelles. The chateau was just perfect … so much so that we wanted to be sure that we made time on our itinerary while we were in the Loire Valley – only two days – that we just stayed, explored and took advantage of the beautiful grounds.
Our host let us know that we should visit the Château de Chenonceau first since it’s open late and the best time to visit is when all the tour buses have left for the day. So that’s where we went. It was absolutely incredible – so beautiful. Exactly what I imagined a French castle would look like. After touring the grounds, we rented a little row boat that took us under the castle … so much fun and amazing experience. Although it wore poor Dan out … since he was just getting over feeling ill.
After the castle, we drove to the town of Amboise for dinner. What a cute little town! I ordered a local tradition called buckwheat pancakes stuffed with 5 different cheeses – heaven! I also accidently ordered a jug of wine … which I accidently (lol) managed to drink all myself!
