Every Friday I’ll post a few interesting finds over the last week.   It could be articles I read, podcasts I listened to, products I used, quotes I loved, books I’ve read … you name it.  If I found an interesting item over the week, I’ll share it here.

10 Things You Need To Know Today

I try to avoid the evening news because I personally find it too negative for my preferences and often sensationalized.  Although I certainly want to stay informed, I don’t believe a nightly diet of dramatized media streaming in my house every evening is good for my mental health.   One thing I have enjoyed is this The Week email subscription.  Every morning, in my email, it will list 10 things that happened …. quick sound bits.  If I want to know more I can go digging.

Hillsong East Coast Worship

Our family watched this video on Sunday for our church service.  It was timely given the recent heart wrenching news and riots sparked by the murder of George Floyd.  I read Carl Lenz book, Own The Moment, a few years ago and really enjoyed it.  He’s the lead Pastor at this church and his interview with TD Jakes opened my eyes to a few key points that I never considered before.

Workout Flash Cards

I bought a whole set of these last year and I love them!  They especially have come in handy during quarantine since all gyms are closed.  I never know what exercises to do for a home workout so this has made it super easy!  They have all types of categories:  Yoga, Stretching, Suspension Bands, Pilates, etc…

Corkscrew Hair Pins

I forgot I purchased a set of these many years ago and I re-discovered them this week.  If you have thick hair and the messy bun has been forever a mystery to you … these will help!  They hold thick hair effortlessly and now I’m enjoying wearing cute little hair buns again.

Cherries are in season!

Happy to see Cherries at our local grocery store.  I may have to spend some time on Pinterest to find some yummy cherry recipes.

Kayaks

Finally nice enough weather to break out our kayaks.  We purchased two last year and have REALLY enjoyed them!!  Even Gracie enjoys swimming along side and also hitching a ride in them when she gets tired.  Surprisingly she hasn’t tipped us over – yet!

Embroidery

I picked up cross-stitch and embroidery during quarantine.  I feel like a little grandma sitting in my chair with my ‘readers’ on with my needle and thread, but I find it very relaxing.  It’s a great way to keep my hands busy while I listen to podcasts.  The little cherry doily pictured above is my handiwork! Here are some items I purchased to get started on my little hobby:

Embroidery Needles

Embroidery Hoops

Embroidery Thread

Marking Pen

Stitch Book

You can find inspiration everywhere –  Pinterest, YouTube, and also Etsy has some very cute patterns you can purchase.

I want to check out some Embroidery Stitch-of-the-Month clubs at some point as well.  I just purchased this one – so cute!!
