I would say no…however, I just can’t help myself! There are five art/craft related activities I want to learn more about this year:
1. Needle Felting

Trudi got Tammy and I into this craft. She showed us how to needle felt this weekend and we both totally loved it. Tammy knows my love of owls, so she made me this cute little owl! I made the pitiful flower to the right. You could put a pin on the back and wear it as an embellishment on a scarf, purse, jacket, etc.. Oh the possibilities!!! If you want to learn more about needle felting, check out this website: http://www.joggles.com/store/catalog/index.php?cPath=277http:// Also, this book, Warm Fuzzies.

2. Collage Painting

In honor of my word for the year, Believe, I made this collage. Totally inspired by Donna Downey’s recent canvas collages. This was easy and fun to put together! I am also taking this class at Big Picture Scrapbooking http://www.bigpicturescrapbooking.com/gotpaint.php

3. Paper Collage

Seeing my nephew’s wife’s paper collages…I totally want to try to do the same. I’m sure they won’t be near as beautiful as her work…but I can try. It doesn’t seem too far of a leap from scrapbooking.

4. Photography and digital alterations
I really want to learn more about digital photography and learn what my SLR Canon Rebel can really do. Luckily I have an inside expert who could give me a few pointers, http://www.thehipstudio.com/. Jen and I are hoping that Karen Russel gives an online photography class this year, fingers crossed. Also, I really want to learn Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. There so many cool things you can do with digital scrapbooking; however, I really don’t even know where to start. I’m sure I can find some online class somewhere!
5. Sewing

Everyone in my family sews…all my sisters and my mom. Somehow the sewing gene missed me…but they all tell me that I am a late artistic bloomer because apparently I had no interest in art related things as a kid…it all started to hit me once I turned 30. So perhaps there is hope left. I would love to learn how to sew curtains. My sister, Teresa, is really talented in that department. She made me these curtains for our room above the garage….aren’t they beautiful? I also recently purchased this book and I’m hoping she can help me make some projects in here this winter!

Looks like it’s going to be a crafty and creative 2008!
